Stress Hair Loss
When bodies release hormones they can:-
Interrupt hair growth cycle:
Stress hormones can push hair follicles into a resting phase, known as telogen. This can lead to a temporary increase in hair shedding.
Weaken hair follicles:
Stress can also weaken hair follicles, making them more susceptible to damage and breakage.
Cause inflammation:
Chronic stress can trigger inflammation in the scalp, which can further damage hair follicles and promote hair loss.
Types of Stress-Related Hair Loss
Telogen effluvium:
This is the most common type of stress-induced hair loss. It typically occurs a few months after a stressful event and lasts for several months.
Anagen effluvium:
This is a less common type of hair loss where hair follicles prematurely enter the resting phase.
Alopecia areata:
In rare cases, severe stress can trigger an autoimmune disorder that causes patchy hair loss.
