Male Pattern Baldness (MPB)

MPB is primarily caused by a combination of genetic and hormonal factors:

  • Genetics: Men with a family history of MPB are more likely to develop it themselves.

  • Hormones: The hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) plays a role in hair loss. In men with MPB, hair follicles become more sensitive to DHT, which causes them to shrink and produce thinner, shorter hairs.

Symptoms:

Receding hairline, Thinning hair on the crown, Bald patches on the top of the head, and Hair may become finer and weaker.

Progression:

MPB typically progresses gradually over time. The rate of hair loss can vary widely between individuals
